Edward “Teddy”Hamilton
“quote or lyric for your character”
NICKNAMES: Teddy. Prefers his nickname to his real name to the extent that he won’t respond if you call him Edward. Not because he has some kind of deep issue with the name, but because he’s stubborn.
GROUP: Dreamer.
AGE: Fifteen.
BIRTHDAY: March 28th.
YEAR: Year Nine. His formal education has taken a bit of a beating thanks to his narcolepsy.
GENDER: Male.
PLAY-BY: -
Teddy’s face invites worry from strangers, as he often has dark bags under his eyes and a sickly pallor. Luckily, he has both bright blue eyes and a smattering of freckles over his cheeks and crooked nose that add some much-needed colour to his visage. As well as this, he is quick to smile, and his expressions come across as good-naturedly cheeky. Teddy’s hair is a shade of warm brown and falls in playful waves, ending at the nape of his neck.
Teddy gives people the impression of a teenager who is at ease with himself, despite going through that awkward period of life where his lanky limbs appear to be growing faster than the rest of him. He strolls rather than walks, though prefers to stay stationary if possible, to the extent that he theorises about hooking up a dog to a cart to wheel him around. When around other people his body language tends to be relaxed, however when he’s drawing or watching sports by himself then his movements become highly energetic. …At least until his cataplexy kicks in.
Comfort is at the top of his list when it comes to fashion. He sticks to clothing that’s soft and easy to wear, such as tracksuit pants, slippers, cotton t-shirts with graphics, thick cushiony jackets. He enjoys adding personality with accessories, and this trait often shows itself in the colourful sports team scarves, gloves and hats he wears in cold weather, as well as the rubber wristbands and playfully patterned socks and boxers he wears all year round. Primary colours, as well as orange, are his favourite to wear.
Teddy is an extrovert at heart. Before his narcolepsy properly set in, he was one of the most popular children in his neighbourhood and lead his group of friends on imaginary journeys that involved fighting nonexistent villains. An urban Peter Pan, of sorts.
Nowadays, he rarely becomes deeply involved with people, though he is quite happy to converse with them. His frank nature and good sense of humour are obvious to those who have talked to him, however he doesn’t let any conversation last for long and avoids deep or meaningful subjects. He has few friends to speak of, and his talent for leadership has transformed into a stubborn kind of independence now that he has no one to lead.
Teddy’s natural tendency to be carefree, exuberant and friendly has been somewhat restrained by his narcolepsy. He enjoys human contact but is cautious due to his cataplexy, which causes things such as arm weakness and knee-buckling if he experiences extreme emotion. For someone who puts more emphasis on the physical than the intellectual, this is horribly embarrassing. He’s learned to purposely stop himself from getting too involved with other people and pours his excess emotion into creative endeavors instead. As such, he’s become quite the skilled artist, working mostly with charcoal and graphite. Currently most of his works revolve around his experiences in the Reverie. Along with art, he is passionate about sports and while he doesn’t play them anymore, he still takes the time to watch and support his favourite teams. Anyone spying in on him in his room is likely to find him either scribbling away at his desk, or avidly watching reruns of his favourite matches on the television.
His narcolepsy means that he often falls asleep at inconvenient times, as well as giving him the ability to achieve REM sleep quickly. While he dislikes other aspects of his disorder, he doesn’t mind falling asleep quite so much because it allows him to relive the best parts of his childhood through his Chimera.

Mister Marmaduke
The Fantasy : God of a Teddy Bear : God
Marmaduke for short.
Teddy’s Chimera form is one of the numerous toy gods that exist thanks to the heartfelt beliefs of their child owners. He appears as a young, vibrant man wearing the ‘skin’ of a teddy bear, with the head acting as a kind of helmet. It’s somewhat morbid…but no one really bats an eye. Stranger things are seen everyday, after all. Mister Marmaduke fills the role of playmate for the children who flock to him, acting as both their protector and their leader. Just like when Teddy was a child, Mister Marmaduke leads them on adventures and expeditions that seem to always end in obnoxiously happy endings, preferably ones that involve songs and hugging around the campfire. On a more basic level, he provides comfort for children when hurt and company for children when feeling lonely.
Marmaduke is derived from Teddy’s desire to return to his more carefree days when he was unburdened by his disorder, and inspired by the stuffed animal that was given to him by the family nurse when he was young. Just as a stuffed animal has the power to act as a gateway into the imaginary, Marmaduke is somewhat able to construct pretend situations for children, such as by conjuring illusions. Other than that, he has very little magical power and relies mainly on his social skills to perform his role.
