“'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head”
NICKNAMES: Kou
GROUP: Dreamer
AGE: 17
BIRTHDAY: March 5
YEAR: 11th
GENDER: Male
PLAY-BY: Hitsugi - Nightmare
Defining Features: 5‘4“ and 140lbs. Brown eyes and black hair. 6 lip rings, 1 tongue ring, 2 in right & 3 in left ear lobes, 1 pressure in the left inner ear, 1 eyebrow on right, 1 bridge, and 2 scars on left eyebrow from piercing being torn out.
Kou has a naturally strong build. He stands 5’4” with broad chest and shoulders. This often causes others to think he’s older, or maybe even athletic. However, Kou isn’t too fond of exercise, and just naturally has such a physique. He keeps his hair short and usually has hair color of various shades and combination. Currently a reddish streak runs on the right side of a mostly black head of hair. But, give it a month and it will probably change. Facial structure, especially in his eyes and nose, make it hard to deny his Japanese heritage. He has almond shaped eyes that are naturally brown, but Kou constantly wears large circle lenses in shades of green and purple.
Because of mockery growing up, Kou is very sensitive about his physique and wears loose fitting clothing to hide the definite shape of his body. Baggy knee shorts and oversize hoodies are abundant in his wardrobe. He’s also fond of ornate jewelry decorated with skulls and snakes. It’s not uncommon for him to wear 2 or 3 rings per hand, several bracelets, and a long chain around his neck. He also has several piercings. One across the bridge of his nose, one in his right eyebrow, six in his lower lip, a tongue ring, one in each nipple, two in his right ear and three in his left with a pressure in the left as well. He also has two scars in his left eyebrow from where the piercings there have been torn out.
Kou is a gentle person with a naturally soft demeanor and sensitive personality. But children can be cruel and his time in school has caused him to close himself off and become angry. Though family and close friends still see his softer side. Between growing up with animals and his sensitive nature, his parents have had to house many strays over the years. Even at the age of 15 he would bring home stray cats and dogs, wounded birds, reptiles, and even a fish once. Nothing his parents have been able to say or do has deterred him from these actions. So over time they would help him nurse back to health or arrange a visit to the local shelter or vet, and once for a young falcon, a 200 mi drive to the nearest bird sanctuary. Two cats and a snake were left behind when he came to Haven.
He is still a Pisces at heart, and trusts the few he lets in fully. He can be gullible and easy to manipulate by those closest to him, while remaining to naïve to see it himself. He is carefree and playful with friends, often ending adventures with trouble in one form or another. Be it broken house ware or scorch marks to bruises and missing eyebrows. He also spends a lot of time listening. Offering helpful advice to friends who will take it.
Likes: Music, video games, Art/3D design, body modification
Kou absolutely loves music. Like most troubled youths, it’s his escape. He doesn’t have to hear or feel anything that’s not the sound flowing through the speakers into his ears. That was the best part of moving to the U.S., he could wear headphones in the school. Walk down the hallways and not have to hear the bullies, or think about them. He uses it for inspiration when he draws. Always keeping a sketchbook with him, he hopes to enter a school for 3D design, to work with and build video games. The worlds he immerses himself into with games is less of an escape and more of a fascination. He loves them and would love to work with them. He also wants to use it as a good way to move back home, while not having to sacrifice all of his piercings. Though he hates pain, the feel of the metal in his skin, playing with his jewelry when board, it’s worth it to him. He would like to have tattoos as well, though his parents won’t allow him too. They feel it’s too permanent.
Dislikes: Bullies, spicy food, school work.
He hates bullies, all shapes and forms they take. Their blindness to the hurt and pain they cause can bring him to tears. Why can’t they fathom what it is they are doing? While he refrains from violence, he has stepped between more than one bully and victim, using his natural bulk as a barrier.
Spicy food isn’t often served in the Ichiki household. Kou is an overly picky eater, and if he doesn’t like it he’d prefer to starve. And spicy food is at the top of that list. His father however loves it and so when his mother makes a special dish with spice she makes a separate without, not wanting her child to starve that night.
Kouyou hates school and all the work involved with it. If he hadn’t been planning on attending a secondary school he would have dropped out the first chance he got. He gets good grades because he understands the importance of it, it’s just one more hurdle to obtain what he wants.
Kouyou was raised in a middle-upper class family from Tokyo, Japan. His family immigrated to the U.S. when he was 12 and he misses his old home greatly. He has a strong sense of Japanese pride, and a love for most traditional garments and ways of living. In their American home they still keep an assortment of cooking and eating utensils, a Kotatsu and a short legged table with seating on floor cushions. The only other traditional piece in their home is the furo. Most everything else in the house is modern American décor. Kou still doesn’t think it looks or feels like home.
His Mother is an English translator, and he was raised bi-lingual by her. His father is a computer programmer. They both are now employed by a sister company of his fathers previous employer. He is an only child, but not for lack of trying, and babied by his parents for it. Though he is far from being a spoiled brat and loves his parents dearly. His parents have worried about his lack of self esteem and friends, they encourage his sense of individualism and have taken him to get all of his piercings . At least the ones they know about. When he first showed signs of Dreaming his parents tried to hide it and started making plans to move to a secluded house, far from where anyone would notice the growls he produced. But shortly after locating a suitable home, someone had noticed and he was taken away.
He has always had a natural stocky build which led to constant teasing from his Japanese classmates. After his move to the States the teasing continued, but this time for his accent as mild as it was. Years of constant teasing has turned his friendly yet naive nature and has made him cautious and cold towards new or seemingly friendly interactions.

The Delusion : Tatsu : Half Dragon
His Chimera manifested as a mix between his human self and a Tatsu, a Japanese water dragon. Amongst his changes are a set of horns and a rather long tail. Roughly the size of his fore arm his horns are not overly impressive. They branch once about four inches up, are a tawny brown in color and have ridges that almost resemble scales. Contrary to being a water dragon the scales on his tail are mainly red with black underneath and are smaller on shape the closer they get to the tip. The mane running the length of his tail is a red and black mix that makes it seem more of a dark maroon. His clothing at first was a traditional Hakama ensemble, but after coming to haven and being more informed on what is really happening he is more prone to wearing his modern hoodie and baggy shorts.
Originating in Jinaka, Kou truly thought it was a dream; a dream that placed him back home in Japan, but in the feudal eras. And as a creature of natures power, a Dragon. True to the many stories Kou found he could manipulate water to varying degrees, from ceasing rainfall to raising rivers. He quickly discovered he could help or hinder his new dream. Frowning on the brutality of lords he caused them droughts. Seeing the Camaraderie amongst small villages and farms, he help keep their crops watered. But there was always much to be wary of when he dreamed, and even more that he didn‘t understand.
Waking up in Haven he found it wasn’t a dream at all. At first he felt guilty, playing with others access to such a precious commodity as water. But realizing their cruelty was real it vanished soon enough. He became far more cautious, more discreet in his actions. Foul things were amongst the many denizens in his now real dream, and he felt no need to call attention to himself for them to see. He has done so much as a chimera, learned much, known more than he thinks he should, but is still a child at heart. Fearing the dark and the many things within still seems like a sound course of action.
The villages that he chose to aid had begun building small shrines and leave tokens and gifts at the lakes and rivers nearest them. Honoring him in hopes of keeping his favor he supposed.
