NICKNAMES: Kira and any others people decide to call him.
BIRTHDAY: September 22nd
PLAY-BY: Hyde.Akira stands just shy of six feet tall; his size is one of the few carry-over traits he got from his American father. His hair usually hangs loose and just down to his shoulders--never finding short hair to his liking, this length is the compromise he and his father reached. For the most part, his appearance is very Japanese, except his eyes. They are the last trait he got from his father, bright blue standing out from the rest of his appearance, drawing a lot of attention. Though always loose, Akira stands with the posture of someone who is waiting for something to happen.
Akira knows how to be disciplined--his training has seen to that--he just doesn't want to be. Most of his life was spent in different Dojos and military schools, and while he still enjoys the physical aspects of those things, he is just fed up with having to be so rigid.
- Martial arts
- Anything Exciting*
In the last year, Akira has significantly grown. He has cast off the shell he always kept over himself, becoming.. well, a very large flirt... and his new favorite pass time is seeing exactly how he can get the prettier people around him to want his attention and time.
He also has a bad habit of living dangerously... whatever that might entail at the time; Driving too fast, starting fights for no reason, and flirting with people who are off-limits either socially or emotionally.
Akira's major distaste for the world also stems from his upbringing. Having spent his entire life being the "good little soldier", he can't standing sitting idle while the world moves around him. He wants to see it, be in it, and never have to let it pass him by again.
- Having to stand still
- people who are to serious
His past has also brought about a major dislike of anyone who takes themselves so seriously that they have forgotten how to live in the moment, or to do something just because they wanted to. Akira has vowed that he will never become that person nor never tolerate people like that, even it means he has to show them the joy of being spontaneous himself. And to hell with how much trouble it might cause him.
Akira was born to an American military officer stationed in Japan and the daughter of a retired martial artist. The extremely traditional nature of his Japanese grandfather resulted in his mother being disowned for having a child before she was even given permission to marry. Pairing that with Akira's vibrant blue eyes, it made it very hard for him to get along in school. So he ened up quite a lonely child.
To make matters worse, Akira's mother was killed in a car accident when he was only eight years old. Left solely in his father's care, it became apparent to everyone quickly that Akira's father could not handle the stress of both the military and being a single dad. Thereby, at ten, Akira was sent to live with one of the few of his mother's relatives that had stayed in contact. His name was Junosuke and he would become more like a father to young Akira then his own would ever be.
The next seven years of Akira's life was spent in intense study of the martial arts; for Junosuke, much like his half brother, was also a martial artist--though he had chosen a life of teaching. Akira's schooling was handled in the small mountain home in the village that Junosuke lived. His free time was spent training in Aikijutsu, ju jutsu, and Ni to ichi ryu kenjutsu, and his Summers were spent on long trips to Hong Kong to study kung fu with a friend of his uncle's.
Two days after Akira's seventeenth birthday, the dreams started. His uncle had no idea what to do about them, until he spoke to Akira's father, who, knowing what these symptoms meant, called the proper people the next time Akira showed the symptoms.
The following year of Akira's life was spent at Haven, where he has slowly but surely adapted to the sudden change in lifestyle. Akira is more than happy, in a lot of ways, to be where he is now and if he has his way will never go back to the life he had before.. even if a cure is found for his "disease".
