“I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human.”
NICKNAMES: Anything but "Mike"
GROUP: Staff
AGE:43
BIRTHDAY: January 8
OCCUPATION:History Teacher
GENDER: Male
PLAY-BY: David BowieMichael stands 5'10" with a slim build, even for his age. He's always kept himself in good shape, mostly out of vanity. He has blue eyes and naturally brown hair. The oddest thing about him is his left eye which appears to be a different color. It's in fact the larger size of his left pupil, which is permanently dilated. While his hair is naturally brown, he will constantly shift and change the color and length, to suit his mood it would seem. However, now in his 40's, Michael has settled down a bit to keep his hair about three inches on top and spiked blonde with brown roots showing.
Michael usually wears several rings and bracelets and at least one earring in his left ear. It's usually something large to make the fact that he has a piercing very prominent. His usual attire is generally within the realm of normal clothing, button up shirts with sleeves rolled up and blue jeans. However, outside of class, Michael's choice of wardrobe is usually described as "eccentric." Even in the confines of the classroom, he's known to occasionally come to class dressed as famous men from history.
He's easy to smile and laugh and looks rather approachable to students as well as other adults. His posture when walking, standing, or sitting is relaxed and generally indifferent. It's obvious looking at him that his mind is constantly working, but never so hard that he won't smile and wave at friends, or strangers.
Well, I never imagined I'd come to such a place like this! I've been fascinated by dreams and fantasy. I always thought there had to be... something else. Something more! I'm blessed to be such a part of it. I have to admit, I'm probably here in part hoping this, "disease" as so many have been calling it is contagious. Is it dangers? Well, so it would seem. But would it be worth it? Most assuredly. I can't imagine being something outside of myself in a world controlled by little more than ones thoughts!
It's not hard to talk to me. I've always been a good listener. I'll give advice though, if you want to hear it or not. But, I'm not about to judge you for not taking it. I'm a fun loving individual, very much about pushing boundaries, about looking beyond what "society" wants everyone to see. I want people to look past that surface, look outside the box if you will, and see how beautiful the world really is without limits.
Reading is a big deal for me. And music. I always have music playing. I'm not a wonderful singer myself or anything. Certainly not a musician! But, I love listening. Putting a soundtrack on life, as it were. I don't think I have a favorite genre. I like it all. As long as it's really music. Some of the things people try to pass as music is just a cacophony.
What else do I like? Chocolate. I love chocolate. And mornings. Just when the sun starts to rise. Sun rise is the most beautiful thing. I dream about it, you know. Just seeing the endless sunrise. I'd never get bored of it.
When I was younger, I used to try and write. Tried to be really a great author. It was my passion. And I would tell my parents about all the things I saw. The faeries and sprites living in our yard. And they just smiled and patted me on the head before sending me back out to the yard to play.
I was lucky enough to grow up in England. Out in the country, none the less. There was this beautiful abbey down the road from our house. Practically in our backyard. And I would go down there and play and there was always another boy there. At least, I thought there was. I would tell my parents and they would, just the same as before, pat me on the head and smile.
But I always knew there had to be more to all the things I was seeing. So I started to read, and research. Even when I was so young. It didn't lead to anything at first, except a degree in history with nothing to do with it except teach. So I did. And I kept my eyes open, my ears open.
In high school I actually ended up in a fight. I didn't win and my "crazy eye" is all I have to show for it. I suppose that made me lucky, to come away just losing partial sight in my left eye. It made my eyes look distinctly different from one another as well. Not that I'm not a fan of it. I feel like it adds to my personality. A bit off.
Anyway, I was teaching in London when I first heard about Dreamers. And started to look into it. Not that I'm a scientist or anything, so I couldn't dig very deep. But I just kept listening and reading about all the incidents.
When the little girl went crazy, murdering all those people. That was when I really got interested. And then this school opened up. And I had to try and get in! I mean, I'm not a dreamer, but this is where I've always wanted to be. Around people who are more than people. Who go beyond the capacity of normal understanding. I've always known they had to be here, somewhere.
