For Your Consideration Pawns: Emmer, David Status: open/active Setting: by the center fountain Scene: Emmer and David meeting for the first time
Emmer trotted down the stairs, careful to hold onto the railing. The last thing she wanted was to trip down the stairs and tear out her lip ring, especially since she'd just bought some new hoops and studs for it. She couldnt wait to put them in and show Kou! She'd been rather surprised when the jewelry store in the mall had not only carried body jewelry, but also had some that were different colors and styles. She'd have to put in the twist-y purple one first. Or maybe the spiked black stud! Emmer sucked her lip ring, considering that maybe she'd bought more than she should have. Now she'd have ten different rings and studs, including the captive hoop Kou had first used to pierce her lip. She'd made sure to buy the majority in size 10 though, since Kou had said he thought it was the most comfortable. She trusted his opinion.
She was so busy shoving her wallet back into her bag, she didnt even notice the boy walking across her path until she'd bumped into him. "Oh!" she yelped, trying to dodge around him too late, her feet tangling and sending her to the floor. "Ow...damn.." she grumbled, sittign up and rubbing her arm. She'd have a nice bruise there tomorrow. Lucky her.

David sighed as he trudged his way through the mall, bag in hand full of books on varying subjects and increasingly odd descriptions. He stopped walking as he approached the fountain near the center of the area, looking around and wondering where to go from there. Jewelery stores, clothing and fashion areas and a strange amount of pink things, he suddenly realized he was in an oddly feminine section of the mall. Several thoughts crossed his mind as he blushed and resisted the urge to go and buy something girly for himself, he was trying his best to act normal here but his old cross dressing habits still popped up now and then.
It was during this train of thought that he felt something hit his back, yelping as he felt the person collide with him and fall over. "EEP!" He fell first so the person landed on top of him, causing him to groan lightly. "Ummm... hi there, sorry about that, guess I was kind of out of it." He laughed softly as he looked up to the person on top of him.

Emmer blinked, her eyes going wide. "Sorry!" she yelped, bouncing up and off of him. She was always odd about oddly suggestive situations. She could take her shirt off in front of Kouyou without batting an eyelash, but landing on top of this stranger had her up as fast as she could. "Im so sorry! Here, lemme help you up.." she stretched out her hand, helping him to his feet. "Sorry abou' that/ I wasnt payin' attention at all." she laughed a little nervously.
She tipped her head curiously, looking the boy up and down. "Sorry...ah, did you jus' get here? I don' think I've seen you aroun' before." Emmer spent a lot of time watching people, especially when she'd skip classes and there was nothing else to do besides watch people.

David chuckled softly, blushing a bit as she got up from him so quickly, shrugging it off as he tried to stay cool. "Don't worry about it so much." He smiled warmly as he took her hand and stood up. "I don't think I was paying enough attention either so it was bound to happen, no one's fault." He giggled. He was surprisingly accident-prone and somewhat clumsy, though he rarely got hurt from it for some reason. Sometimes it was because he wasn't paying attention and sometimes it was just bad luck, so he learned not to worry about the fault in such little accidents as this tiny trip across the mall.
He blinked as she looked at him oddly, as if he was some oddity that was either completely foreign or strangely familiar. "I got here fairly recently, but I've had a little time to adjust." He laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head as if he was being interrogated. "I haven't met too many people yet, probably why you don't recognize me." He smiled warmly, he could be rather introverted when he wanted to be. "How about you? How long have you been here may I ask?" He tilted his head a bit.

"Almost eight months now." Emmer answered, smiling a little sadly. "You get used to it here though. Some what." She shrugged. He was kinda cute. That seemed to be a running theme with Dreamer boys. He also seemed a little pulled in on himself. Something about the way he stood and the way his eyes reflected said 'I have a secret and where Im standing right now is making me nervous.' But then maybe they all had that look when they first came to Haven. If he hadn't been here that long then he probably wouldn't be comfortable with his Dreamer status yet, unless he'd had a particularly easy time before coming. She shook her slightly. 'Stop zoning out, he's going to think you're crazy.'
"My name's Emmer by the way. S' nice to meet you." She grinned. "You don't have to be so tense here. S' not really a secret anymore. I mean, can't be. You are here after all..."

"Wow, that's quite a while there." He laughed a little, wondering about her expression, he knew not everyone was overly ecstatic to be here but she seemed forlorn about something in particular. After that she became quiet for a moment and his shyness and nervousness made certain he dare not break the silence. He merely waited quietly, his hands clasped in front of him until she spoke again.
At her introduction he nodded and smiled towards her friendly expression. "Nice to meet you Emmer, my name's David." He said quietly and politely, noting her unfamiliar contractions with a bit of intrigue. He shivered a bit at her urging him to calm down and relax. "I suppose so, I'm always tense around new places though, and around girls." He rubbed the back of his head and looked down, blushing as he answered her truthfully, he got nervous very easily. "I suppose that's not a secret either, but I don't really remember much about that at all anyway, I mostly believe what people tell me." He chuckled lightly. He could only remember vague scenes and emotions, a disconnect from his chimera that he was told was uncommon and indicated a deeper problem he couldn't quite get at. His recollections put him in a sad demeanor but he tried to smile nonetheless. "Both new places and that issue are not so bad as long as I'm among friends here though." He giggled again.

Emmer smiled brightly. "Well you're certainly with friends here. 'specially when you're with me." she blushed and laughed. Well she hoped so anyway. They'd only just met but she liked David quite a bit already. Even if he was shy and seemed a little reserved with himself, he seemed like he'd be pretty fun to hang around with. "Are you here with anyone?" she asked, looking around the immediate area. No one had come to claim him yet, but they could have been in a shop or something.
She needed to get back to her room soon, but soon could be stretched. She would have liked to talk to David more and get to know him a little. She liked talking to shy people and watching them come out of their shells. She herself was usually rather outgoing and she loved encouraging that in other people.

David smiled brightly and nodded, blushing a bit as well. "Thank you, it's nice to make friends in a new place and I hope we can get to be good friends." He giggled in a manner that even he thought was slightly effeminate. He also looked around as she asked him that question. "Not that I know of, if I am then I'd be kind of scared they didn't tell me I was here with them." He chuckled softly. He most often went out alone as part of his reclusive side but he had nothing against groups either. He did a quick back and forth to make sure no one was following him before smiling at Emmer. "Nope, I'm alone." He grinned.
He really had nothing else to do today, it was mostly an off day for him and he was wandering around aimlessly, coming to buy stuff and almost ducking into a dress shop to try on clothes was the closest thing to productive he had been all day, most of all he was just bored as he had tried to find something exciting. He was grateful to Emmer for breaking up that boredom. "So, what have you got planned?" He smiled warmly and bowed his head slightly.

"Mostly just wanderin' about." Emmer laughed. "I got what I came for, but I should probably buy actual clothin' and not just lip rings, huh?" She smiled. "Maybe if I do some shoppin; my mom won' notice the body jewelry on the statement? I hope so cause otherwise 'm in trouble." She smirked. "Not like she can do anythin' while Im here. That's the best part of bein' here. You can basically do what you want." She grinned. "I had a shot of whiskey last night. Then a couple more shots of stuff I didn' know what it was." she giggled happily. "My mom'd die if sh' knew. 'Course she won' know." She urged David forward in a random direction.
"So have you explored Haven at all since you've been here?" Emmer tipped her head curiously. "There's actually a lot to do here. I didn' think there would be when I go' here but there's actually a lot." she grinned. "Course some of it may or may not be allowed but there are so many of us they only seem to keep tabs on the troublemakers an' not the rest of us."

"I see..." DJ smiled, acknowledging the sense of freedom Emmer expressed about the place, he supposed it was true. He also supposed that was part of what he wanted after feeling the frustration of trying to repress his hobbies at home after being caught, he wanted freedom and now in a sense he had it. In fact the mention of her getting clothes caused him to glance towards the same shop again and give sort of an inward blush as he remembered his plans for it moments before. He wasn't exactly a wild person who struggled to get out of his parents' grasp but at the same time he could appreciate the relief of coming to a new place with almost unlimited freedom and a chance to make many new friends. That was what this place should have really meant to him, a new start. Maybe he could let go of all that frustration he had felt before after all.
The boy yelped softly as he was urged along and snapped out of his thoughts, focusing on her question as they went along. "Not really." He explained. "I've looked around a bit but I've mostly kept to myself and wouldn't exactly say I've 'explored' anything." He smiled and nodded as she continued speaking. "That sounds like fun, what kind of things are you talking about though?" He tilted his head curiously as she urged him along.

"Well, I guess s' not everyone's idea of fun." Emmer shrugged. "But the woods are fun the explore and there's a lake in there somewhere." She smiled, linking her arm with his.
"I was thinkin' about goin' back today. I wanna see if I can find the stream tha' feeds the lake. 'm not much one for big bodies of water. You wanna go with?" She'd hardly known this kid for ten minutes and she was already inviting him to go places with her. Must be the Southern hospitality her parents had raised her with. Being a Southern girl in the middle of the mountains hadn't been easy for her, but it had quickly gained her friends in highschool and it was workign it's charm again here in Haven.
"So where're ya from?" She asked, looking around at the different stores. All the clothes were so cute, she didn't hardly know where to start! On the ranch, you didnt wear clothes you really liked, especially if you were working with the horses and cattle. Everything got messed up pretty fast. "'Ve met people from all over here. Crazy ittn'it? So many Dreamers in one place. S'in here ok?" She pointed to a store to the right that held racks and racks of brightly colored clothing.

David blushed softly as he was linked to her, continuing to be led along like a lost puppy which was not an invalid comparison at this point. "I suppose it would be, exploring sounds fun." He chuckled softly, wondering what kind of fun those places held that she was talking about. His cheeks reddened a bit more as she offered to take to the woods for them to find something to do. His mind couldn't help but make a date comparison. Even if she hadn't intended something like that, it was inherently similar and the interaction made him a bit nervous. He wasn't very used to going places with people, being a bit of a recluse though he could be social when he needed to be.
"Sure... that sounds like fun." He nodded and smiled nervously. She was probably just being friendly but he got nervous very easily. "I'm from the eastern U.S." He answered, a bit thankful for the subject change. "Though my parents say there are roots for us all over the place, diverse ancestry and all that." He laughed a little. He raised a brow as they approached the store, giggling softly and nodding at her choice. "Sure, looks good to me." He grinned, looking over the clothes and feeling the familiar urge to look at womens' clothing among other things.

"Really? Which part?" Her eyes lit up. "My family's originally from K'ntucky but we moved t' Virginia the end of my eighth grade year." She smiled. "Now that was an undertakin'! Movin' all those horses to th' new place. They don' like bein' in the trailer for long ya know."
She turned their course into the store, heading straight to the women's section without letting go of him. It would occur to her later that maybe he wanted to look at guy's clothes but for now, she was happy to tow him along and talk his ear off if he'd let her.
She began sifting through a rack of brightly colored dresses. She wanted something bright and pretty for once. Something that wasn't a tank top or a flannel shirt, which had made up most of her wardrobe from the ranch.
"I miss home sometimes, you know?" The thought had randomly popped into her head and liked all her thoughts, it immediately came streaming out her mouth. "The wide open 'n bein' able to leave whenever ya want." There was no use following that train of thought and Emmer instantly regretted saying it. Thinking and talking about it always made her sad and she didn't want to be sad right now. Damn thoughts! Why couldn't they just stay in her head?

"Around the northeast, New Jersey and the like." He shrugged gently. "Luckily we didn't have anything that big or burdensome to carry, just normal stuff." He watched her eyes light up and blinked a little at how excited she got. He blushed deeply as she steered him into the store and the women's section. He sorted through the dresses as well, not able to stop himself from critiquing them and wondering how they would look on him. He tried to suppress his old force of habit as he took a few off the racks that looked sufficiently bright and girly but somewhat restrained at the same time.
He nearly jumped out of his skin as she addressed him again, his first instinct to ditch the dresses but he stopped himself, not wanting to look distressed or hurried in his movements and instead tried to smoothly put them back on the rack on by one, hopefully she wouldn't turn around and notice him. "Yeah, I can understand that I guess, but it's pretty nice here too." He smiled warmly behind her.
