And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am...”
NICKNAMES: Melody / Mel / Beautiful Freak
PLAY-BY: Ivana BaqueroMelody stands about 4'8" in height, and she is often the shorter person in groups of kids her age. She likes to wear long sleeve shirts to cover her arms and the scars from before. She doesn't care about jeans or shorts so long as they are comfortable and she's able to move around well in them. Her hair is normally down around her face so she can hide behind her hair if need be, especially if there are tears in her light brown eyes. Her fingers are barely noticeable from the length of her shirts. She is super pale from lack of going outside. She wears a roped chain of silver that was a gift from her mother before she was finally taken away. Her clothes are borderline punk with dark colored band shirts (if they are t-shirts, she had long sleeves under them) and loose fitting pants. The only time she wears anything of Gothic attire is when she is going to a formal event and then it's normally a dress with long sleeves. The absolute ONLY time you will see her without a long sleeve shirt on is when she showers, sleeps, or swims--and even then she tries to sneak the long sleeves into the activity some how.
As for physical mannerisms, she has a habit of stroking her hair if she is in thought or nervous. Licking her lips is something she does when she wants to say something, but just can't bring herself around to it. She will twitch when her memories collide in her head. When she starts to think that this world isn't real, she withdraws from interaction and will take the stance of submissive. Talking her out of it only results into panic attacks and passing out. The passing out is how she 'wakes up' when she feels too panicked. When she is actually happy, she will normally brush her hair back and keep her hands behind her back. It is rare for her to laugh and mean it but when she does it's bright and her hands are normally exposed from the sleeves while she covered her mouth. If a person attempts to touch her arms (manly the wrist areas) she would jerk away from them, shaking violently from either pains or memories.
Normally a quiet kid, she often hides from others. She is scared of interaction and from being touched. She normally just takes a beating if she encounters bullies as she has no self worth. If she finds a family figure of any kind, she will cling to them in hopes of feeling like she is home. She doesn't go out unless she is forced to, and would rather just sleep and spend time in the dream world. Because of this, she is extremely behind the times, still thinking that GameCube is the coolest thing ever. If she's not allowed to sleep, she often reads or goes online to find pictures of her family (assuming she can navigate the computers or find one.) She is also diabetic. If she is left alone she normally breaks into frantic mumbling, trying to figure out what is real. In light of her confusion, she will pinch herself often, sometimes feeling it, other times in such a state where pain isn't felt. It isn't uncommon for her to throw out her hand and ask someone to pinch her though this is the only physical contact she normally allows. She loves to eat things like peanut butter crackers and hates fruit. She doesn't care for people in general because she is convinced she's dreaming. If she ever feels like it is the real world, she will accept company at a distance. She is deathly afraid of frogs--no idea why, but they scare her.
Melody's 7 'older' siblings all died before 5 from illness. Melody was the only girl to be born. Thus her family was overly protective and she was kept sheltered from the world. She was never allowed to go outside and play but to stay inside and studied. It was because of the constant studying that she was able to jump ahead a grade. When she started showing signs of a dreamer at the age of 12, her parents started to worry, for they were far to old to have a child again. So they came up with different ways to keep her noise down at night. Music on at night, tape, and gags was just the beginning. Each new advance in methods for silence made her feel even further from life than before. Over time, her parents started seeing her as something to be ashamed of instead of a smart and beautiful child. Melody became so heart broken due to the sudden change in her parents, that she tried to kill herself. The first time, her parents found her in time to stop the bleeding and take her to the hospital. They opted out of putting her into an institution. She attempted this multiple times until her parents could bandage her within the house and stopped letting her go outside around the age of 15. Every time, she passed out from blood loss and slipped into the dream world. This was how she started to confuse Qi's world for the real world. One night, not long ago, Melody had enough. She brought the blade to her arm and cut clear up to her elbow, having to be rushed to the hospital to save her life. When her parents tried to take her home, Melody told the staff she didn't want to go home. That she was scared. So the hospital wouldn't let her go. Her mother shoved a necklace onto the girl's hand, shouting that they were trying to keep her safe before she was forcefully escorted out of the building. It was the first night Melody couldn't sleep. Time after time she buzzed the nurse into the room, asking if she was dreaming. The nurse would pat her on the head and tell her that the nightmares were over. Then, finally around 2 in the morning, she fell asleep.
And the screaming began.
The nurses were in such a fright, that they tried to gag her themselves to keep her from scaring the others within the hospital. Authorities were notified and they came before the sun even peeked through the morning mist within the court yard. Melody woke up in an area she didn't know, and wasn't sure if she alive... or dead.
The Illusion : Lies of Living : Human
Long and straight silver hair frames her face, where light brown eyes sit. She is 5'6" and wears all black: a short skirt that barely keeps her from flashing people, a long sleeved jacket that has a ruffled high color, and short shorts under the skirt. Her knee high gray stockings barely stick out over her black combat boots with skulls and crossbones clasp. Around her neck and wrist are black ribbons that are tied bows. She stands with her legs spread in a challenging position, and sits with her knees together like a lady. She has her head up and isn't afraid to look someone in the eyes. Her stare is raw: showing her emotions like windows.
She is a fist fighter and friendly. She has moments where she can't tell what is real and what is not because of clashing memories. Qi is dangerously obsessed with cupcakes. She doesn't back down if someone is a threat even if she gets her butt handed to her. She will protect someone weaker before she protect herself. She hates vegetables and loathes lies. Even if it's the harshest truth, she will tell it. There is almost no filter from her brain to her mouth, so she comes across as rude on most of her first impressions. If a person got to know her, she would show them that she was caring and friendly and always there to help. The only downside to being her friend is her need to be protective of them--even against that butterfly that may be too close to your ear. She has a habit of squinting at people in thought or staring at something when she is thinking. Muttering is uncommon for her, as no one understands muttering. If she speaks, she speaks loudly; if she whispers, she whispers loudly. She loves to party and be social and can be a bit of a flirt. Her favorite mannerism is a thumbs up and/or a wink--normally done together. She also hates--I mean HATES Melody (cause she doesn't quite understand that they are the same person yet).
Qiturah (Qi or Rah for short) she was raised in a big family surrounded by happiness. Her siblings always turned to her for help and she hasn't failed to protect them from anything--so far. Her father taught her how to fight and her mother taught her how to cook. She never had to go to the hospital cause she could bandage herself. One for the outdoors, Qi loves sports and will play the day away, and often into the night if she so feels it so she's very strong physically. Many times, she would be out for days and people would mistake her for a runaway. Her parents never worried about her no matter how far she traveled. She could protect herself.
