For Your Consideration
.I walked across an empty land
Pawns: Vee and Ben
.I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
Status: private/closed
.I felt the earth beneath my feet
Setting: a secluded section of the lake's becj
.And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Scene: Vee and Ben go for a swim
.Somewhere only we know
Quiet. If it weren't for the singing birds, it would have been too quiet. This side of the lake rarely had people on it, given the hike you had to go through to get here. There wasn't even really a path, save for a small trail Vee herself had knocked out a while ago in an attempt to get somewhere away from the noise. The place she was leading Ben to was always so quiet.
"Ow!" Vee yelped, stumbling over a tree root in her flip flops, the extra weight of the bag of towels and food in her arms tossing her off balance, shoving her forward at an off-kilter stumble. She paused, setting down the bag and checking her toes, wincing when she saw the blood oozing out of a small wound on her big toe. She'd have to fix that when they got to the beach.
"Watch this root." she called to Ben, pointing where she'd stumbled over the pesky tree appendage. He was carrying a cooler full of drinks and she didn't want him to fall on it or drop it on his foot or something. That fucker was heavy. She vaguely wondered if maybe she shouldn't have brought so much in the beverage department, but then she figured theyd be out here all day and they'd need to stay hydrated and such.
She watched as he stepped over the root and then continued to lead him down the path, almost skipping she was so excited. She loved water and she wanted to share this place with Ben. It was such a special place in her mind.
"This side of the lake is so quiet." She said, shouldering the last branches out of the way and stepping on to the soft sand that made up the beach on this side of the lake. "Everyone stays on the other side, and you cant really see this part of the lake because of the trees. "
Vee set down the bag and dug the towels out, spreading them on the sand before kicking off her flip flops off her small feet and stretching on her toes as she stripped off her shirt, toe injury all but forgotten.
"You better be planning on getting wet." She teased. "Im not gonna let you just sit on the beach the entire time."
