LAURA LOUISE LOT
“Sometimes I wish i could just... find the cure and go home back to my normal life. but I can't. I'm stuck here where I belong, a freak among freaks.”
NICKNAMES: Trell, L, Lephant
GROUP: Dreamer
AGE:19
BIRTHDAY: 3rd July
YEAR: 12th
GENDER: Female
PLAY-BY: If you have a play-by actor/model/anyone who can be named, name them or link them here.Laura is a red headed, blue eyed young woman who stands at five foot six and could be considered pudgy. She has no interesting scars and her head isn’t shaped like a heart or any other object except a head. She has ears that do not stick out and look about the right size for her head. Her smile isn’t a something that lights up the room and her laughter doesn’t bring joy to hear, they just convey that she is happy or amused.
To put simply, Laura is not anything special in either direction. Last of the first picks and first of the last picks. She is attractive on her own, but in groups she usually makes the others look prettier in comparison, unless of course they have huge warts or are unconventionally attractive. The only thing really interesting about her body is that she has longer fingers which she can make dance like a thousand spiders whenever she plays the piano or types on a keyboard.
She does not wear glasses as her vision is fine, not does she have braces or any fillings because she was taught how to look after her teeth. Her toes are long like her fingers and generally perfectly fine looking because she bought shoes that fit properly. She does get the odd spot every now and again around the nose on her chin and has bitten her nails away to nothingness.
Her usual attire is a black sweatshirt and black pants. The black sweatshirt may have a symbol or image on it or be made from an interesting pattern. Her pants might be black jeans or black sweatpants. It is worth nothing that her clothing wasn’t supposed to be black, it’s just when she was taken to haven a bottle of black dye got mixed in with her clothing, leaving her with emo attire. Considering Laura’s feelings on being ripped away from her life by the dreams it was a most appropriate accident.
Laura is not very happy about being a dreamer, let’s get that out of the way with first. You think she should be glad that fate or whatever has allowed her to have their dreams of another life filled with wonder? Oh yes, she was glad at first. It was cool, leading a double life in a magical world. And then it was dangerous, because of the incident. Then it made her ‘different’ to her friends, alienated her with their fear. And now she has been dumped here. She doesn’t like this anymore, she doesn’t like the people here and she is not your friend. In fact, the only people she gets along with even remotely are the researchers and people trying to work out to get rid of these dreams, so she can be normal.
Laura is bitter about her situation, leading her to be rude and harsh towards others. Antisocial and generally nasty to most of the others she isn’t exactly the most liked person but she has a few redeeming qualities. If you can stand her to ask her for help with something she will try to help out and she is reliable. She also knows when to back down from a fight, because lots of people are stronger than her, although she can handle herself if she had to fight thanks to her experience in her dreams.
Before she was dragged into this…prison, Laura wanted to be a musician. She adores all forms of music, even rap and foreign songs. Her skills with a violin are acceptable but nowhere near as good as her ability with a piano, an instrument she has played for many, many years. Sometimes Laura even plays it for fun. She can also get a tune out of a saxophone and a harmonica. Of course, on this island there isn’t much call for a musician really… another thing this accursed dreaming has taken from her.
Outside of her music and hostilities towards other dreamers, Laura has a fondness for any form of animation with good music, such as Disney films and most musicals, including things like the “pick of destiny” and “K-on”. Laura also enjoys comedy shows the best, and enjoys listening to audio books before going to sleep. She has a mild fear of vampires and so sleeps with a clove of garlic tired to her headboard. In food Laura prefers bland meals, like a cheese sandwich or a bowl of porridge. She hates curries and strong powerful flavours as they tend to give her hiccups.
Laura Lot was born to Nigel and Zara Lot with the help of William McSweeney, which sounds unusual until you learn that Nigel was infertile and had to turn to his long time friend from China for aid. Yes, William McSweeney is a Chinese man, from a very old-established family. Regardless of her ancestry, Lura ended up being born into an upper middle-class family. Her father worked part time at a local supermarket and her mother was a lawyer, meaning she started well off in life.
At an early age she showed interest in music and used to mess around on the bought-for-décor grand piano they owned, at first creating noise and then moving on to one-key tunes. Her father ended up supporting her interest and hired an instructor to train her in the art of the piano, something she enjoyed for many years even if it did eat up a little of her social life.
In school Laura proved herself to be a nice and gentle person, and her skills with the piano helped her become a little more popular with the other children. She was reasonably bright but had a tendency to not do homework and cared little for geography, both local and global, often having to rely on her friends for help when dealing with that subject.
Things were generally samey from then on; she would learn instruments, hang out with friends, talk about TV shows and games and be praised by her family when she did good. It could be considered a boring life, but it was one Laura loved. She had her friends, her family and it was obvious she was going to become some kind of musician. Hell, if she learned how to sing without scaring the cat she might have gotten a record deal.
But sadly none of this was to be, because the dreams started. For her they were fun at first. It was new, different, exciting. Even if it did freak out her friends and family at first, they soon grew accustomed to the sounds she made while asleep thanks to sound proofed walls. She wasn’t exactly happy about the dream side effects as it made sleepovers difficult, but she could cope with it. And then the incident happened. Then a dreamer killed.
From then on everything changed. People looked at her differently, like she was dangerous, like she was a freak. Her own parent’s attitudes changed and one day she arrived home to find a lock on the outside of her door. There were no more lessons, because people didn’t want to risk teaching her. Laura is aware that most of this is people over reacting, but that didn’t stop it hurting her. It didn’t stop her hating the dreams. Wanting them gone.
And then one day she awoke to find herself in Haven. Whisked away in the dead of night like some sort of… criminal. Or monster. She is pretty damn sure that the only reason this places exists is as a jail or sorts. A cage of stone, keeping the freaks away from society. Laura doesn’t want to be a freak. She wants to go home. She wants to play things on the piano for her friends and go shopping with her mother. She hats haven, she hates dreamers and she hates the dreams. She wants them gone and is willing to do anything to get rid of them, almost doesn’t come into it.
AMY COAL
Illusion: Agent of Oblivion: Slime
Amy is a Slime. Taking the form ball of blue gloop that with a single nucleus, she doesn’t seem that impressive when in this relaxed state. However her race has one major thing going for them; shape shifting. She cannot suddenly turn into fire breathing dragon and fly over the world like a jet, but she can rearrange her body into a more humanoid form and give herself additional limbs. As long as there is enough mass in her body she can turn into almost any shape. However she mostly takes on the form of a five foot seven female humanoid with slightly oversized hands.
Amy is very much aware that she is Laura, which means she isn’t very nice. She may have carved out her own life here, but it is one filled with more conflict and death than you would think. You see, while Laura is stuck in the dreamscape from hell she tends to…ruin it. She wants it gone and she figures the best way to do this would be to see the world burn. Slightly insane and psychotic in comparison to Laura, Amy often gets into lethal fights with other denizens.
She is fire proof and technically stab and slash proof as well. As long her nucleus is still whole and attached to her gloop she can still move and reabsorb any cut off goo to reform herself, and if needed, create more by absorbing organic matter. She thinks she could grow to huge sizes if she absorbed enough matter, but is nervous about trying it. She could grow huge without gaining more mass, but that would leave her hollow and flimsy. Amy’s gloop is cold and clammy to touch and can even be hard enough to pick things up or soft enough to absorb things.
