For Your Consideration
.I ain't here
.to do anything halfway
.Dont give a damn
Setting: A tree near the east end of the wall
.I just want to freefall for a while
Scene: Emmer's determined to finally see a deer.
.Wild at Heart
They had to be coming around here. She'd been seeing those damn tracks for months, and more recently flattened grass where the deer Emmer had been hunting for months were bedding down at night.
She'd gotten here dark and early and had taken up stake in this tree, high enough that the leaves covered her, but low enough that she could still clearly see the ten feet of open grass from her tree to the wall surrounding the town. It was a really tall wall. Probably well over fifty feet. She wondered if there were really guards or if they just relied upon the sheer size of the wall to ward people off. There was a gate somewhere, she assumed. How else where food and supplies getting in? She'd never heard a copter or a plane coming in and there certainly weren't any landing strips.
The sun had come up about an hour ago, and birds were chirping away in the tree around her. Their songs, though high pitched and bright, were starting to lull her off to sleep. She hadn't slept at all last night, and wondered if Coatl had missed her presence or wondered where she was. Emmer certainly missed her. There'd be a gap in her writings now. She'd have to date yesterday's and tomorrow's if she wanted to keep the Cop Out Doctor from getting confused. What did he think of her writings on the Reverie she wondered. She hadn't been to talk to him since she'd dropped them off. It wasn't like Mr. Ellis, she didn't see him every day. Maybe after she was done here she'd go find out. A nap would be good first though.
Speaking of naps, Emmer's eyes felt heavy. She'd just close them for a moment...
