Welcome to. . . "Haven"?
How did I get here. . ?
What was. . . the accident?
Can I see my family. . . ?
Yes. Haven is a small town, walled off from the rest of the world, built into a mountain. . . somewhere. It snows in the winter, and reaches a high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. The roads are cobblestone, and the architecture of the Academy is a sight to behold, reminding one of a cathedral. Haven is beautiful--it's the kind of place everyone wants to retire to. Except the people here.
How did I get here. . ?
You are a Dreamer. For some reason, over the last four years, people like you have been . . . happening. . . all over the globe. A phenomenon where the Reverie, a world unknown to us until now except in our dreams, is affecting you more than others. When you sleep, you make noises that give you away--howls, whispers, screams--and your eyes turn a ghostly blue during REM, almost glowing. At first, it was merely a nuisance, until an accident. . . Well, anyway. You've been brought to Haven for study, and hopefully, to find a cure. We're not sure how we'll get there--either by the research of the scientists and staff here at Haven, or through your own discoveries in the Reverie, but we have to make sure that no such accidents happen again.
What was. . . the accident?
Morbid question. . . Well, I suppose I should give you a reason why we have taken you away from your home and family. An early Dreamer, about 4 years back, put you on the map. She, a normal child, just like you, woke up one day and walked out of her house--survivors say she was blathering nonsense--she killed, somehow, about 200 people. Some of them with her hands and teeth, some of them through some presumed psychokenesis we can't explain before she was shot and killed in a defensive line up.
Can I see my family. . . ?
Unfortunately, no. Not until we get to the bottom of this. The walls around Haven are meant to keep you in and keep them safe. It's not that you've done anything wrong. You're a brave kid. The faster we figure this out together, the sooner you get to go home.
