In Demential Reverie, you have a few choices as to what characters you may choose to play.

Dreamer
The dreamers are the children who have come down with the influence of the Reverie. In the world of DR, these children are regarded in much the same way as mutants in X-men by the ignorant populace. The signs of influence are marked in audible noises during sleep--howls, screams, whispers or the like--sometimes these noises can't even be made by human vocal chords normally. A dreamer will not awaken from sleep by influence from the real world, and during REM, their eyes glow a ghostly blue. These signs are irrefutable and friends and parents almost immediately call the authorities. Sometimes, Dreamers are hidden by their parents for short times, but it is almost impossible to hide a Dreamer in any sort of populated area, as they inevitably will make noises loud enough for those outside the house to hear.
Dreamers are always 10 - 18 years old when they start showing signs, but some have grown beyond that and a few have been enduring the condition for longer periods of time than the 4 years the Haven project has been occurring. You can be any age between 10 - 24 as a born Dreamer (inflicted Dreamers do not have an age limit), and you can be a dreamer as well as a staff member or researcher, but only if you are older than 18
Staff/Researcher
The scientists and teachers who volunteer at Haven are more often than not normal people when they first arrive, but most have been infected by the Reverie since coming due to the concentrated exposure, and all graduated Dreamers are given some job--be it working the bar or grocery store or training to be a new Teacher. There is a program for internship to learn the sciences and teaching skills necessary to help out around the complex. Every volunteer is aware that they are not leaving Haven until the problem is fixed, so they may be sealing themselves up here forever.
Chimera
A Chimera is a being born in the Reverie. Every Dreamer has a Chimera form that is seemingly native to whatever part of the Reverie they were first admitted into. Native Chimeras cannot usually tell a Dreamer Chimera from the real thing.
