For Your Consideration
Pawns:
Layton "Chu" Lewis & Akio Tokuhana.
Status:
Private/CLOSED
Setting:
On the way to Chu’s apartment and in his apartment.
Scene:
Chu's left knee has been dislocated; his Physical therapist has offered to walk him home to make sure he is safe.
Chu noticed that so many people seemed to like Aki. They waved to him, told him "Good Bye" as he left, some people even called out to him on the street as they walked. Aki had the kind of personality and good-looks that got everyone's attention. Aki was smart, well-built, charming, and compassionate. Chu wished that he could be half the man that Aki was. Though he knew that some people were just blessed more than others; and Aki truly was blessed with everything.
The outfit that Aki wore caught Chu's attention, he looked like a rock star. Chu looked down at this own outfit. An old faded black shirt, dark blue basket ball shorts with his old high school logo on it, old, worn, faded shoes. Not to mention his scars. All in all, Chu looked a total wreak compared to Akio. He did feel self conscious; he was walking next to someone who was the pinnacle of perfection... and there he was dumpy and frumpy. He sighed at his own pathetic appearance. But no need to gripe about it, he never ever owned nice things before... so, why dream about it, when you can't have it?
Aki looked like the kind of person who could be good at anything; Aki could have been a model, or a rock star, or a celebrity, some one important. Yet, here he was. Locked away in Haven, and would more or less never get out. It saddened Chu a bit, to think of all of the people locked away here. So many people here had such great potential, and yet they couldn't be free to experience the world or peruse their true passions.
"You’re Japanese?" Asked Chu slightly surprised, "I... I'm only half Japanese. My mother is from Japan. Her name is Nanami, she's nice. My father is American... his name is Harvey... he's... he's..." Chu took quite a bit of time trying to think of something to say about his father. Eventually he said, "Nice. My father is nice too." There didn't seem to be any trace amount of confidence in his voice as he spoke about his father.
"... I can only speak a little Japanese, things like "Oka-san", or “Yamate” or “Taskute”. Just little things I guess…” Chu’s voice wandered off for a moment; then he sighed, “Sometimes, I wish I could have learned more… bu-but… My umm… my father never let my mom speak Japanese. He didn’t want me to learn it. … I… I don’t know why.”
The memories of his father always haunted Chu. A day hadn’t gone by when he didn’t think about the verbal or emotional abuse.
“Y-you’re gay?” Chu’s heart skipped a beat, “You don’t look gay. I mean… I know gay doesn’t have a look persay. But, you’re so attractive and… wait no, that’s not it. Wait. You are attractive. But, that’s not what I meant. I meant that you… you… you…” Chu wasn’t sure how he turned the conversation so awkward, “Umm… I didn’t mean it like that! It’s just… umm…” He face reddened very quickly. Chu’s embarrassed face was rather cute, his face and ears turned a hot shade of pink and he desperately tried to hide it behind his shaggy hair cut.
He wasn’t sure why he was so excited to find out that Aki was gay, but maybe it was nice to know that there was someone in Haven who understood him.
When the heat in his face cooled, he spoke, “I… I’m gay too. … I left my boyfriend 2 years ago when I was taken to Haven. We talk every day, but being in a long distance relationship is… so… difficult… it’s so hard sometimes too…” A great deal of sadness entered his voice, “… It’s like… no matter how much we talk… we’re still so far away… and I’ll never get to see him again… but, he loves me so much that I… can’t bare the thought of… br-breaking up.”
Chu’s true personality was beginning to bloom, instead of being frightened and jumpy; he was actually friendly, curious, and still a little awkward.
Up ahead Chu could see that they were coming up to the residential district.
