For Your Consideration .I want to keep you here with me Pawns: Vee and Ben .Don't wake me up just let me dream Status: private/active .Come back in the middle of the night Setting: Vee's room in the hospital .And tell me everything is gonna be alright Scene: Ben comes to give Vee another session in the hospital .It's alright, it's alright
Everything was fuzzy, as it always was when she woke up these days. Vee'd only been in the hospital a week and already she was sick of it. She was gaining weight back at a steady rate and, with the help of a strong sedative, sleeping more. Sleep meant nothing to her though. Every night she woke up in the Reverie as Seppa, racing across the Fantasy, searching for Fedafyr. Seppa's despair blended into her own and only made her more tired than she had been before. She was short with the nurses and doctors, her inability to work out only adding to her anxious fidgeting and snarky attitude.
A soft groan issued from her lips as a nurse pulled back the curtains, letting the sunlight stream in and sear her eyes as the woman explained that she had a visitor and she needed to be up and attentive in ten minutes. Within minutes, she was dressed and forcing down whatever cocktail of pills they had her on now. The doctors had seen it fit to give her anti-depressants and ADHD medicine. That's what she'd gotten for deciding to cooperate, a mouthful of pills she didn't need and nurses that treated her like glass.
The nurse came back in, announcing the presence of her doctor and the last person Vee expected to see here.

Ben walked in, dressed differently today. A black turtleneck and black dress slacks and a long trench coat. He had his hands in his trench coat pockets, the collar popped up and a scarf tied loosely around his neck. He had a bored look on his face as the doctor was explaining to him what they had done for him. He looked at the papers the doctor was holding in front of him. He shook his head.
"You need different sedatives. One that will let her be in lucid sleep; it's the only way to keep her from going to the Reverie and actually rest."
He frowned at the doctor.
"But I'm sure you have been quite busy between the nurse for room 218 and 344 to think ahead like that."
He left the speechless doctor and walked over to Vichee's bedside. He looked down and looked her over.
"Well, your weight is back up. I took care of your garden while you have been here and brought you lunch. I'm sure the food here is horrible."
He shifted and withdrew a container of spaghetti from the inside of his coat along with a baggie of garlic bread. He reached into another pocket and took out a brown paper bag. He set it down in front of on the little table that would roll up to the bed. He reached into yet another pocket and took out a plastic silverware set with a napkin, salt, and pepper inside of it. He patted his pockets a bit and took out a small bottle of grape juice.
"Hard to sneak wine to you because of their tests."

Her eyes lit up as he set the food in front of her.
"Thank you." She couldn't keep the excitement out of her voice. Even with the stabilizers, she felt giddy over the thought of real food and not the crap they gave her here. She pulled the top off the container and ripped open the silverware packet, tucking in happily.
"Why're you here?" She asked between bites, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. She'd expected him to go back to avoiding her, not to show up at the hospital bringing food and bearing news of taking care of her garden for her.
Whatever his reason, she was glad he had come. Especially with food and an order to the doctors to change her sedative. 'Wonder if I can get him to tell them to stop with the ADHD medicine...' she thought absently as she took a bite of the garlic bread.

He started to remove his scarf and draped it on the chair.
"Not that I have been in a hospital, but they can't eat any better than I use to."
He then removed his coat and draped it on the chair by his scarf. He started to roll up his sleeves as he turned to look at her again.
"I was bringing you food because you needed to eat. The nurses giving you any trouble?"
He wandered over to the vanity area. He picked up the pitcher of water and looked into it. His face scrunched up as he looked at it. Such poor quality of water... He poured it into a cup anyway and took a sip.

"Mmm they just annoy me. They won't let me run or even take a walk." She made a face, taking a long drink of the grape juice. She almost spat it out before she realized the taste didn't mean that it was spoiled. He'd spiked it. Ben..had spiked her grape juice. She swallowed, trying to choke back a laugh.
"Sneaky bastard." She muttered, taking a bite of spaghetti to cover it. "Anyway, they're...making me take ADHD meds..I don't like how they make me feel.."
A quick shake of the head and she looked up at him. "You never answered my question."

He gave her blank and 'innocent' eyes.
"Question? What are you talking about?"
He thought about the ADHD medication. Why the hell would they be giving her that. He looked at the clipboard at the bottom of the bed. He picked it up and read through it.
"Fools are just giving you pills to be giving them to you."
He pulled a pen out from behind his ear that was hidden. He clicked the pen and with fluid movement made a note. He turned it to face her with a blank face. The note matched the handwriting--illegible but distinguishing. It read something about stopping the medication.
"Don't worry about that anymore."
He dropped it into the holder and took another drink of water. He frowned at the cup.
"This won't do at all."
He then tossed it into the sink. He looked back at her.

"Not any better than when you brought me here." She sank down against the pillows behind her. "At least before I could run. Now all I can do is sleep and that's only making it worse." She turned her attention to the scratchy blankets covering her legs, picking at the sheets. "Seppa met some kitsune in a temple. She's been hunting him because she thought he was bad. He..wasn't though. He healed her feet and her loneliness for a while, then he left. She's chasing him now. She...feels about how I do. When I wake up, it feels magnified."
She hadn't been working at all since she'd come here. Technically, she had nothing to worry about, and yet she was more stressed than ever.
"And I asked you why you came. Stop avoiding it." The narrowing of her eyes caused her whole face to scrunch, her bottom lip sticking out almost as if she were pouting.

"Now if I'd done that, you would have had my head, wouldn't you?" She giggled. Her laughter broke off when his smile disappeared.
"For what?" The question came out soft.
She hadn't even meant to say it, honestly. She had a pretty good idea as to why he was apologizing. She just hoped it meant that maybe things would go back to the way they had been. Or something close to it. She had come up with all sorts of excuses while she'd been cooped up here, some rational and some bordering on ridiculous.
She absently fidgeted with the last little bag he'd given her. Opening it, her senses were assaulted with the scent of lemons and immediately she began to drool. Oh he knew the way to her heart alright. Even if she hadn't forgiven him already, she certainly would have upon opening this bag.
"You, Mr. Hidzenboosh, play dirty." She teased, biting into a lemon puff and giving a long, almost sexual groan as the sharp, citrus-y flavor coiled over her tongue and flooded her mouth.

"Not only for that day..."
He was referring to the lake and what had transpired that day.
"but also, for the day I brought you here... I had just previously heard from my parents. My sister had found herself a boyfriend and she had to go to the hospital herself because she didn't tell anyone about what had happened. He had a history of violence from previous psychologist about having to have anger management. It seems he found a new outlet and he never remembered doing it. He said he thought he was dreaming. I had talked to him over a video chat, and it was all true. It... scared me."
"Though I hate my sister and I don't care if she lives or dies, it made me realize how much a person can lose it and not know it."
He turned back to the window and leaned against the wall.
"And it's why you need to stay as far from me as you can until I have all of this worked out and figured out."

Vee played with th edge of her blanket, mulling over what he'd just told her.
"Im...afraid to leave you alone like that.." She said softly. "For the same reasons you're afraid of me being there. What if you hurt yourself? Badly. Someone...is going to have to be there..to stop you or call the hospital. Whatever."
Finally, she aside the blanket and looked up with him with an odd little half smile. "I don't eat when I'm worried. Make sense now? Why I would just stop like that..." She shrugged. "I was, am, worried about you.."

Vee sighed and watched him go longingly. She wanted to reach out nd ask him to lay down with her, like she had the first night she'd had him over at her apartment. It wouldn't fi anything now.
Once he'd gone, she slipped out of her bed, tugging her IV along with her, and collected up his coat and scarf. She returned to the bed, curling up on her side facing the window, his coat wrapped around her.
It was getting cold. Just a while longer. She could wait that long. Just a while.
